Second CAPTAIN Message Switch
Deployed for Use by the Council of Governments Central Naugatuck Valley
Combined Use on CDPD and Private RF Radio
Networks.
December 31, 2001...Rocky Hill, CT. With the addition of a second
message switch in the Waterbury police department, the CAPTAIN Mobile Data
Communications system expanded its reach across Connecticut. Serving
the member agencies of the Council of
Governments in the Central Naugatuck Valley (COGNV), the system
facilitates inter-agency cooperation through shared records information and
statewide messaging.
The COGNV system supports wireless communications
via CDPD and private RF radio networks. The additional RF network support was a
key factor in the deployment of the system because it allowed CAPTAIN to be
used very cost effectively on the Waterbury public safety radio network.
