Modem Tracking, Inventory, and AVL

You can't have one without the others....

June 1, 2007...Glastonbury, CT. Modem and Inventory management are critical components of an AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) system. This management task, while difficult in a large office becomes practically impossible in a mobile environment without the right tools.

As part of the expansion of the system to include Fire and EMS resources, CAPTAIN was enhanced by Telepartner to ensure the reliability of its AVL capability.

An automatic update of critical equipment, installed software versions, and identification information is sent to a central server each time one of these parameters changes, or every few days when nothing has changed. An audit log tracks each automatic change received or made by an Administrator.

This data then becomes the key to positively identify mobile public safety assets across a large region.

A side benefit of more accurate data is that it fascilitates the reconcilliation of billing information from network providers used by the CAPTAIN mobile units.
