Connecticut State Police Successfully
Execute CAPTAIN Software on their 800 MHz Radio Network
Operates in Parallel with Existing State
Police Public Safety Applications.
September 15, 2002...Rocky Hill, CT. The Connecticut Department of
Information Technology and the Connecticut State Police initiated a limited
pilot of CAPTAIN utilizing the new State Police 800 MHz wireless data
network.
The pilot successfully
demonstrated that CAPTAIN and the State Police public safety applications can
coexist and process on the currently installed State Police network and
computer equipment. The test involved a limited number of vehicles and
personnel, and spanned several weeks.
Transactions that were tested included basic vehicle
and name inquiries as well as mugshot image retrieval.
Preliminary findings appear to indicate the
following:
-
No additional software is necessary to enable the
CAPTAIN application to execute on State Police equipped vehicles
-
Neither application interferes with the other
-
Response times are acceptable to the end users
Again, while these results are encouraging, they are
still preliminary. Telepartner looks forward to continued testing and further
deployment.
